SIMC Empanelment Lunch Commemorates Appointments of the Japan Specialist Mediators

Posted in News

The empanelment of our latest batch of Japan Specialist Mediators took place yesterday during a lunch at exquisite Taiken En in Hotel New Otani Tokyo which offers delectable Shanghainese cuisine. The mediators received their certificate of appointment from SIMC CEO Wee Meng Chuan and Hiroyuki Tezuka sensei, a highly respected legal practitioner in Japan who also sits on the SIMC International Mediator panel. We were also privileged to have Justice Anselmo Reyes in attendance, adding to the significance of the event.

The empanelment brings the total number of SIMC’s Specialist Mediators to over 270. Together, they represent a diverse group of senior professionals comprising 12 nationalities and expertise spanning over 17 different industry sectors across seven jurisdictions.

Following the lunch, the Specalist Mediators attended a Special Event of the ASEAN-Japan Special Meeting of Justice Ministers – “ADR=Appropriate Dispute Resolution: Sharing of the Singapore Experience and the Japan Perspective“, co-organized by SIMC, SIAC and SICC at Hotel New Otani in the afternoon. The event was attended by guest-of-honor, Mr. Edwin Tong SC, Singapore Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, and Second Minister for Law. The Japan Specialist Mediators were invited on stage to take a group photo with Minister Tong to mark and celebrate the empanelment.
